So much of taking a great photo has to do with the subject, composition, your vision, and proper editing. The camera is a tool, and you are the artist; and a good artist can make a beautiful painting with the means at hand.

2. Learn To Shoot In Manual

   Learning to shoot in the Manual setting is essential for becoming a successful photographer. Having control over your camera settings in this way will help you make or break a shot. Certain locations you shoot in may be over or under exposed, and being able to compensate for this manually will save you in some situations. Not only this, but it also makes you incredibly versatile as a photographer. While it may seem daunting at first, with practice you'll have it down in no time!

3. Just Start Shooting

   Beginner photographers often think they need special equipment, studio settings, or professional models to start taking photos, but this could not be farther from the truth. The best way to get started is to just get started. Take pictures of anything and everything you find interesting, artistic, beautiful, or impactful. Ask your friend if you can photograph them in their new outfit. Take tons of photos on your trip to the mountains. Capture interesting architecture in your city's downtown area.    Understanding photo editing techniques/software is crucial in the career of a professional photographer. Being able to manipulate the light and colors in your photos will greatly enhance their aestheitc, setting you apart in quality and style. This is the area in which people often begin to develop and establish their signature style as a photographer. I prefer using Adobe Lightroom, though there are a plethora of options to choose from in this digital age.

   
   

5. Youtube Is Your Best Friend

   I learned everything I know by reading blogs, watching Youtube, and getting hands-on experience. We live in an age where information is available abundantly at our fingertips, and Youtube is an incredible resource when you begin your photography journey. From learning to shoot in Manual, to mastering Lightroom, there's nothing you can't learn about photography on Youtube. With in depth guides and instructions, this is an amazing, free way to educate yourself as you move forward.
